NRG’s Apex Legends pro squad of Brandon ‘Ace’ Winn, Marshall ‘Mohr’ Mohr, and Joseph ‘Frexs’ Sanchez were stunned after coming across a series of bugs that ultimately led to a bizarre ‘invincibility’ glitch.
The competitive teams are all preparing for the start of 2020’s Apex Legends Global Series, and NRG have a bit more grinding to do to refine their play with newcomer Frexs after the sudden retirement of Colby ‘dizzy’ Meadows.
But practice was cut short in a match of the Apex Games after Mohr was wedged in the corner of the room. He had taken a Wraith Portal back from looting, but it seems like the character model got irreversibly stuck on his way back.
Players encounter bugs in Apex Legends a lot, but those glitches get even more crucial in competitive settings.[ad name=”article1″]
A tried-and-true method for stuck battle royale players has been to knock yourself down and relying on a teammate to pick you back up, but that didn’t work either.
Mohr was taken aback by the glitch since his Gibraltar wasn’t bleeding out, as intended in the game.
So not only was he cemented in place in the corner, he couldn’t get revived from his squadmates, and was invincible to the effects of bleeding out.

Soon after, the team realized that Mohr’s character could actually die; though that was little consolation since the final circles didn’t have a Respawn Beacon in it.
The trifecta of bad tidings meant that a favorable game quickly turned into a nightmare scenario since even if he had been successfully killed, there wasn’t a chance to get back to a healthy three-man squad.
Scrimming against some of the best teams in the Apex landscape, the glitches made it hard for NRG to practice their mid-late game approach in the match.
Mohr stuck between a bug and a hard place, being unable to move from his spot even when downed.[ad name=”article3″]
After letting their botched situation sink in, Mohr was astonished of the bug, quipping that Apex really was “esports ready.”
The critique should be noted though, since Apex players have a long list of game-breaking or unfathomable bugs appear in their matches that would be detrimental in an official competitive match.
With the headlining Global Series kicking off later in 2020, it’ll be interesting to see what actions Respawn takes to make sure the game runs smoothly for the league.
