This means there isn’t long to wait before the Season of the Splicer kicks off and players can jump into all of the brand new content.
Season of the Splicer official trailer
On May 4, Bungie released the official Season of the Splicer trailer which revealed exactly what players can expect to encounter after the major update goes live.
It’s fair to say the reveal trailer has got the whole Destiny community hyped and ready to check out all of the new content.
Vault of Glass returns in Season 14
Destiny’s original Raid, the beloved Vault of Glass, is finally making its return in Season 14.Undeniably the headliner for next season is the return of Destiny’s first ever Raid: the Vault of Glass. This challenging 6-man PVE activity first opened its mysterious doors on September 16, 2014, just one week after Bungie’s new universe launched.
Seven years after Guardians first ventured into the Vault, they’ll finally be able to return. While Bungie has confirmed the Raid’s story will remain the same, there’s no telling exactly how its mechanics will work in Destiny 2, but veterans and newcomers alike should expect a challenge.
While the original encounters are set to return, there could be a few surprises thrown in as well, as Bungie wants to provide a nostalgic feeling while also bringing the Raid up to Destiny 2’s standards. Either way, you’ll need to be on your toes when jumping into the Vault in Season 14.
New Exotic Cryosthesia 77k weapon added in Season 14
The Cryosthesia 77k will be added to the new Battle Pass in Season 14.As shown in the Season of the Splicer trailer, the Cyrosthesia 77k sidearm will be included in the Battle Pass coming in Season 14. This brand new Exotic is fitted with Liquid Cooling tech which is capable of freezing enemies where they stand.
For players who purchase the brand new Battle Pass, the Cryosthesia 77k will be unlocked immediately. So, if you’re in the market for a brand new weapon, it might be worth splashing out on the rewards pass.
Destiny 2 Transmog system finally arriving in Season 14
You’ll soon be able to rock your favorite armor sets without losing out on preferred perks. The community has demanded it for years and Bungie is finally delivering: a transmog system is set to arrive in Destiny 2 with the launch of Season 14. Ada-1 will return to the Tower next season, and the revamped Black Armory vendor will be in charge of the new transmog system.

If you’re one of many players who’ve been stonewalled by the dilemma of liking the stat rolls on your favorite armor set but preferring the visual style of another, you’ll soon be able to have your cake and eat it too.
The Armor Synthesis (Destiny 2’s term for transmog) mechanic coming in Season 14 allows players to change any piece of armor into a universal ornament, which can be used to modify the appearance of any other armor piece you’ve acquired.
While transmog has been a highly requested feature since Destiny 1, Bungie’s initial reveal of the system did not go over well with the community. Regardless of whether the developer tweaks its mechanics based on community feedback, transmog will arrive in Destiny 2 alongside Season 14.

Destiny 2 Power Cap and Vendor changes
There are a few key vendor changes on the way in Season 14.Like any new Destiny 2 season, the player Power cap is changing in Season 14. However, instead of the traditional 50 Power boost there will be just a 10 Power increase this time around — something put in place by Bungie to alleviate a tedious (and highly disliked) grind each new season.
With this change, the studio is hoping to keep casual and hardcore players more in line, and allow everyone to spend more time playing activities of their choice instead of grinding Power levels. Whether you play every day or just hop in once a fortnight, this should be a welcome change.
Additionally, a few Vendors are also receiving overhauls in Season of [Redacted]. For one, the Gunsmith Banshee-44 will not sell armor mods starting in Season 14. Instead, that role will transfer over to Ada-1, along with the responsibility of overseeing the transmog system.
To make up for the change, Banshee will now sell six unique weapons each week with completely random perks. This is another welcome callback to Destiny 1 and its weekly vendors refreshes that have been largely missing from the second Destiny installment.
Changes to underwhelming perks on Trials of Osiris weapons will be arriving in Season 14.Destiny 2 Season 14 sandbox updates
Along with all of the new content that drops each season, Bungie often uses the game’s major updates to implement changes to its constantly evolving sandbox. Season 14 is no exception, and there are plenty of weapon and perk changes coming next season.
In addition to tweaking powerful perks like Quickdraw and nerfing Hand Cannons to bring them more in line with other weapons, Season 14 will introduce a host of other perk updates and changes to weapon archetypes to shake up the game’s meta.
In their April 29 ‘This Week at Bungie’ blog post, the developer outlined numerous sandbox changes arriving in Destiny 2 next season. While there are plenty of tweaks for players to get excited about, there are several major updates Guardians should pay particular attention to.
In addition to major buffs for Linear Fusion Rifles and changes to several exotics, Bungie is unleashing a flood of perk updates, including welcome revamps of unique Trials of Osiris and Iron Banner options. The developer has also confirmed more changes to shotguns and other exotics will arrive later in Season 14.
We’ll be sure to keep you posted on any new details that emerge in the lead-up to the release of Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer.
In the meantime, make sure to keep an eye out for more news, leaks, and reveals ahead of the game’s next big update.
