While those looking forward to Valorant will have to wait before they can jump into the FPS title, Riot Games is allowing players to lock in their preferred usernames ahead of time. Here’s how.
If you’re anxiously awaiting the release of Riot’s first foray into the FPS genre with Valorant, you’ll be happy to know that you can lock in a username long before the game’s release.
While this might be common knowledge to fans of previous Riot titles like League of Legends of Legends of Runeterra, newcomers may be surprised at just how simple the process is to secure your preferred username.

How to lock in your Valorant username.
The first step in the process is to register an account with Riot Games. Given that the studio allows for a single username across its wide array of titles, one account is all that’s needed to access Valorant once the game becomes available.
Through the official League of Legends website, you are able to register an account by simply providing an email address and date of birth, followed by a chosen username.
It is worth bearing in mind however, that the username here is purely for login purposes and will not be your actual display name across Riot titles.

Once you have an account registered, head to the accounts section of Riot’s own unique website and login using your new details.
As soon as you enter the website, you will be greeted by a box containing four distinct settings. Click on the second option to access your Riot ID.
“Your Riot ID is used to find you in all Riot games through the in-game social panel,” the tooltip reads.
Use this section to enter any username you like and secure your own unique Riot ID well ahead of Valorant’s official release.
